Scouts
Scouts are the oldest section in any UK Scout group and are for those aged 10½ to 14. Here at Ashby Hastings we strive to provide as much adventure as possible, developing those all-important #SkillsForLife.
Our Scouts enjoy a widely varying programme of weekly meetings and have the opportunity to take part in a number of weekend events, such as caving, climbing, sailing, district and county camps and their Expedition Challenge hike. Our leaders give up a week of their summer each year to take the troop away on camp. Sometimes it’s a “back to basics” theme, sometimes it’s at a UK-based international such as Charnwood or Peak – but whatever we do, it’s always great fun.
Most of our Scouts achieve their Chief Scout Gold Award, the top award available, before many move on to Explorer Scouts.
As Scouts, we all love camping!
2019 was more of a challenge, when Charnwood International Scout and Guide camp became “Charnmud” [add link to news article] instead…
1 of our Scouts was one of the lucky ones to be included in the interview given by Bear Grylls when he dropped in at the beginning of the week.
What’s so great about Scouts?
